Andrew Mitchell (Chairman)

Andrew was educated at Oxford and subsequently earned an MBA at INSEAD. Following an early career in the oil industry, investment banking and management consultancy, he founded and ran his own businesses for almost 10 years. More recently, he was an executive director and shareholder in one of the UK's most successful university spin-out companies, which was sold in 1997 to a large US corporation. Between 2004 - 2008 he was chief executive of Newcastle-based NStar, which pioneered a series of venture capital programmes in the North East. He now leads the £140m ‘JEREMIE’ venture capital fund in the region. Andrew is also vice-chair of Council at the University of Durham and a Trustee of Prostate Cancer UK and Reach to Teach (an educational charity working in India).
